If there is one publication whose history is as colorful, if not as shaded, that would be The Industrialist.
Through the years, it has been through so many experiences, both challenging and inspiring, as if all the pages have been blessed by Mother Nature herself—burned by fire, blown in thin air by the wind, soaked out wet by flood, and buried twelve feet below—strengthening and polishing it, paving the way into what it is now.
Many may wonder why the publication has been named The Industrialist. Back in the day, student publications’ names best described the studentry they represented. The university was still labeled as DHVCAT, and since most of its students were taking up vocational and technical courses, they were said to be "industrious" or "hard-working". Thus, as a layman’s term, the word "industrialist" was used.
Since its establishment in 1940—even through its darkest times—the publication has tirelessly carried the torch that illuminates the very essence of student journalism—continuing battle and search for truth and a catalyst that always heeds and amplifies the voices of the masses, especially the oppressed.
In its 83rd year, The Industrialist marks another milestone not only for the publication staff but also for all Honorians. It will forever carry the identity that has for so long embellished the true purpose of serving the community by fulfilling its responsibilities and obligations to strengthen freedom of information and expression. All while being adaptable to the needs and changes of time.
In its very core, The Industrialist is and will remain a survivor. Many challenges will once again arise, but just like before, they will remain steadfast and unwavering. This year, it will continue to be your ally, proving the true meaning of "unity". No one is left behind—all is heard and understood. The Industrialist will keep serving you with the unbiased side of truth.
