Lone ind gubernatorial bet defies odds over one-party dominated LSC
NEWS
Out of the five Local Student Council (LSC) aspirants who bannered independent parties in this year's DHVSU Student Council elections, only one of them obtained a spot in the LSC, based on the results released by the Student Commission on Elections (S-COM) on June 9, 2024.
Published on the official Facebook page of the election body, independent gubernatorial candidate Erin Margaret Peña, under the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), was named as the winning governor over YN-party's bet.
Apart from Peña being the only independent aspirant to win the Local Student Council Election (LSC), the Senior High School (SHS) BM on Public Information post shall also be one of the LSC seats that is not expected to be filled by a Youth-Nited (YN) Movement runner after its aspirant failed to meet the Vote of Confidence quota.
Meanwhile, all other candidate-ran LSC seats are expected to be filled by all YN Movement candidates after drawing wins in the local elections.
At the university-wide level, vice presidential aspirant Missy Ruela Cortez was also the sole independent candidate who made it to the cut after attaining a vote higher than the confidence quota.
