The final day of the Student Commission on Elections (SCOMELEC) closed-door interview concluded today, April 10, with the University Student Council (USC) aspirants wrapping up the proceedings.

Based on the list posted by the commission on their official Facebook page just now, four out of six aspirants who attended the interview qualified, leaving eight USC positions still vacant, including Senators for Records, Finance, Audit, Student Affairs, Business Affairs, Gender and Development, and Peace and Development.

When asked by The Industrialist about the process for uncontested positions, SCOMELEC Co-chairperson Angel Limbitco explained that positions with no qualified candidates will go through an appointment application, which will be reviewed by the commission.

“As discussed and will be further determined, the positions which has no candidates or have no qualified candidates, they will have to go through an appointment, na dadaan pa rin po ng SCOMELEC for them to be scrutinize and para mag-undergo pa rin po sila sa proper protocols—such as interviews—para ma-check po ang qualifications ng ating appointive officers bago po sila ma-secure po sa kanilang position sa University Student Council (USC) in the upcoming academic year,” he stated.

With the closed-door interviews officially completed, the electoral process now moves to the campaign period, starting on April 14 and continuing until further notice from the commission.
